TOKYO, JAPAN – For the second straight Olympics, it was a heartbreaking final race for Seven Persons’ Sage Watson.

Watson and Team Canada finished just off the podium in fourth place in the women’s 4×400 metre relay on Saturday morning with a time of 3:21.84 which was a season best performance for the quartet.

Anchoring the final 400 metres for Canada, Watson was sitting in the bronze medal position with 100 metres to go but was passed by Jamaica’s Candice McLeod.

It’s the second Olympics in a row that Watson and the rest of Team Canada have been close to a medal, finishing in fourth place at the 2016 Rio Games as well.

Watson, who reportedly was battling a back injury in Tokyo, did not qualify for the women’s 400 metre hurdles final finishing in fifth place in the semi-final heats earlier in the week.
