No new cases in the city, 53 new cases

No change in Medicine Hat COVID-19 numbers, active cases in province up slightly

There is no change in the number of active COVID-19 cases in the city on Thursday, with Medicine Hat remaining at eight active cases.

Medicine Hat has had 1,271 total cases – the eight active, 1,241 recovered and there have been 22 deaths.

There are no new cases in the city since Wednesday and no new recoveries.

59.9 per cent of Hatters have received at least one dose of vaccine at the latest update.

There are 578 active cases in the province, up nine from Wednesday, and 229,745 recovered cases in the province, up 43.

Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 232,635.

There are 53 new cases in the province today, and 33 more variant of concern cases have been identified.

There are now 107 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 31 of which are in ICU, and 2,312 deaths.

The province completed 6,216 tests in the past 24 hours.

The positivity rate is about 0.9 per cent.

Alberta has administered 4,947,062 doses of vaccine at the latest update.

Province-wide, 74.4 per cent of Albertans 12 years old and up have received at least one dose of vaccine and 57.1 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Among Albertans of all ages, 63.3 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 48.6 per cent are fully vaccinated.

There are 23 active cases and 12,372 recovered in the South Zone. The death total in the zone is at 134.

An AHS spokesperson told CHAT News on Tuesday there are currently four COVID-19 positive patients hospitalized in the South Zone. Medicine Hat Regional Hospital has two inpatients with one of those in the ICU. Chinook Regional Hospital also has two inpatients.

The province-wide reproductive value for the week of July 5-11 is 0.84. It is 0.88 in Calgary Zone, 0.97 in Edmonton Zone and 0.69 in the rest of Alberta.

Cypress County has totaled 302 cases. There is one active case, 300 recovered and one death. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 50.3 per cent.

The County of Forty Mile has 157 total cases. There are no active cases, 154 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 29.9 per cent.

The MD of Taber has 572 total cases — one active case, 565 recovered and there have been six deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 36.5 per cent.

Special Areas No. 2 has 104 total cases – no active cases, 103 recovered and there has been one death.

Brooks has 1,502 total cases — zero active cases and 1,487 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 15 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 248 cases — four active cases, 241 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 49.4 per cent, including Brooks.

The County of Warner has 468 total cases. There are no active cases, 465 are recovered cases and there have been three deaths in the county. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 45.8 per cent.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 4,841 cases. There are five active cases, 4,797 recovered and there have been 39 deaths. Lethbridge County has 1,264 cases, one active case, 1,251 recovered and there have been 12 deaths.

Not all the areas on the vaccination data map match the case count map.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day July 14, 2021.”

Saskatchewan has a total of 49,341 cases, 373 considered active. There are 48,395 recovered cases and there have been 573 COVID-19 deaths in the province.

Saskatchewan has delivered 1,321,210 doses of vaccine.
