Two new cases in city, 35 in province

Active COVID-19 cases rising again in Medicine Hat

There are eight active cases of COVID-19 in the city on Tuesday.

Medicine Hat has had 1,271 total cases – the eight active, 1,241 recovered and there have been 22 deaths.

There are two new cases in the city since Monday and no new recoveries.

59.7 per cent of Hatters have received at least one dose of vaccine at the latest update.

There are 599 active cases in the province, down 25 from Monday, and 229,627 recovered cases in the province, up 57.

Alberta’s total cases from the start of the pandemic is 232,536.

There are 35 new cases in the province today, and 14 more variant of concern cases have been identified.

There are now 112 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 33 of which are in ICU, and 2,310 deaths.

The province completed 4,991 tests in the past 24 hours.

The positivity rate is about 0.7 per cent.

Alberta has administered 4,894,909 doses of vaccine at the latest update.

Province-wide, 74.2 per cent of Albertans 12 years old and up have received at least one dose of vaccine and 55.9 per cent are fully vaccinated.

Among Albertans of all ages, 63.1 per cent have received at least one dose of vaccine and 47.5 per cent are fully vaccinated.

There are 24 active cases and 12,368 recovered in the South Zone. The death total in the zone is at 133.

An AHS spokesperson told CHAT News on Tuesday There are currently four COVID-19 positive patients hospitalized in the South Zone. Medicine Hat Regional Hospital has two inpatients with one of those in the ICU. Chinook Regional Hospital also has two inpatients.

The province-wide reproductive value for the week of July 5-11 is 0.84. It is 0.88 in Calgary Zone, 0.97 in Edmonton Zone and 0.69 in the rest of Alberta.

Cypress County has totaled 302 cases. There is one active case, 300 recovered and one death. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 50.2 per cent.

The County of Forty Mile has 157 total cases. There are no active cases, 154 recovered and there have been three deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 29.8 per cent.

The MD of Taber has 572 total cases — one active case, 565 recovered and there have been six deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 36.4 per cent.

Special Areas No. 2 has 104 total cases – no active cases, 103 recovered and there has been one death.

Brooks has 1,503 total cases — zero active cases and 1,488 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 15 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 248 cases — seven active cases, 239 recovered and there have been two deaths. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 49.3 per cent, including Brooks.

The County of Warner has 468 total cases. There are no active cases, 465 are recovered cases and there have been three deaths in the county. The latest vaccination rate for all ages is 45.5 per cent.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 4,838 cases. There are four active cases, 4,795 recovered and there have been 39 deaths. Lethbridge County has 1,263 cases, no active cases, 1,250 recovered and there have been 12 deaths.

Not all the areas on the vaccination data map match the case count map.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day July 12, 2021.”

Saskatchewan has a total of 49,304 cases, 375 considered active. There are 48,356 recovered cases and there have been 573 COVID-19 deaths in the province.

Saskatchewan has delivered 1,307,065 doses of vaccine.
