Redcliff joins surrounding community fire bans

Town of Redcliff Fire Ban in Effect

Jun 30, 2021 | 7:38 AM

REDCLIFF, AB — Following the lead from the city of Medicine Hat and Cypress County, a fire ban is now in place for the Town of Redcliff.

Fire chief Wade Gleisner posted a notice late last night.

Burning of any kind in Redcliff, including open burning, wood burning fire pits or charcoal BBQs are not allowed.

Propane or natural gas BBQs or fire rings are exempt but should only be used with extreme caution.

Gleisner also reminds people not to flick their cigarette ashes from vehicle windows – as that could lead to a fire in these dry conditions.

The City of Medicine Hat implemented its ban on Monday. Cypress County also put in place a fire ban this week. The County of Forty Mile will upgrade a fire restriction in place since early June to a fire ban.
