The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry has confirmed that a Helicopter Pilot helping fight a wildfire north of Edmonton died in a crash Monday night.

RCMP say the detachment in Evansburg received a 911 call shortly after 6:30 p.m. Monday that an aircraft had crashed in a remote area.

The location of the crash is not accessible by road.

It is not known if there was anyone else on board at the time. The Transportation Safety Board says it is sending a team of investigators to the site.
