MEDICINE HAT, AB – A 52- year-old Medicine Hat man was arrested and now faces possible weapons charges after a high-risk incident Thursday evening.

The Medicine Hat Police Service said the man called police in distress. That triggered multiple police officers to respond to the scene.

Officers located the man’s vehicle at the Dunmore Road access near McDonald’s.

When negotiations were not going well, the tactical unit was called out.

Numerous police vehicles could be seen in the 3300 block of Dunmore Road at around 9 p.m.

The public was asked to avoid the area.

Police said they were eventually able to negotiate with the man and arrested him without incident.

The scene was cleared just after 10 p.m.
