COVID-19 update: Province confirms 100 new cases

EDMONTON, AB- There are 100 new cases of COVID-19 identified across the province Sunday. The total active case count is 2,127.

Taking to Twitter Sunday afternoon, Hinshaw said of the 100 cases, 89 were new since yesterday. The remaining she said were probable cases that occurred previously but have not been confirmed. The province also identified 99 new variant cases of concern.

Over the past 24 hours, 4,878 tests have been completed. The provincial positivity rate is 1.8 per cent .

There are 214 people in the hospital including 53 in ICU.

The province also reported one new death.

In Medicine Hat, there are 23 active cases, 1,215 recoveries and, 22 recorded deaths.

Cypress County has five active cases, 294 recoveries, and one recorded death.

Both the County of Forty Mile and Taber have zero active cases.

Newell County has three active cases, 236 recoveries, and two recorded deaths.

The City of Brooks has seven active cases, 1,480 recoveries, and 15 deaths.

Lethbridge County has five active cases, 1239 recoveries, and 12 recorded deaths.

The City of Lethbridge has 12 active cases, 4,783, and 39 recorded deaths.

Over 3.7 million doses of the vaccine have been administered so far, according to Alberta Health. Hinshaw encouraged everyone to get vaccinated and said appointments are available online or at a participating pharmacy.
