Speedway racers ready to rip it up

MEDICINE HAT, AB – After having to stay in park for the first scheduled events the vehicles be flying around the Medicine Hat Speedway track on Saturday.

Speedway vice president Curtis Bigelow says he is looking forward to everyone getting back behind the wheel.

“We’re hoping to have three classes, the renegade trucks, the V6 class, the rumble bees and street stock, elite street stocks and then this year it’s new we’re having lawnmower tractor races which will be I think they’re going to have a couple heats probably and a main kind of thing same as we do.”

The gates will open and qualifying races will start at 5 p.m. driver intros will happen at 6:15 and green flag racing begins at 6:30.

Up to 400 fans can be in the audience and public health measures will be in effect.

Bigelow says anyone who wants to get into racing or wants to volunteer at the track some other way can contact them on the website or Facebook page.

He also thanks all the sponsors and volunteers who stuck with the speedway over the past year.
