What’s open and what’s not as Alberta moves into Stage 1

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Alberta is moving into Stage 1 of the Open for Summer plan today and you may be asking what’s open and what’s not.

Here are some of the things we’ve found.

Outdoor fitness classes are resuming at the YMCA, as well as outdoor personal training appointments. Outdoor Find Your Fit appointments are also available and Larger Than Life Yard Games are can be accessed by family cohorts.

Hill Pool is offering lanes swim at 50 minutes per swim time and public swim at 75 minutes per swim time on weekends only. Admission is between $2-4.

There is a maximum of 10 people per activity. Registration is required and you can book up to three days in advance.

Hill Pool also has aquatic fitness classes available now and at outdoor fitness classes are taking place at Kin Plaza.

Slots for swimming lessons at Hill Pool and Strathcona Pool are viewable now and registration for them will start on June 8.

The city is also now taking household bookings of park kitchens at Central Park Kitchen, Kin Coulee Kinette Kitchen and Kin Coulee Toboggan Shelter.

Redcliff has also posted its June 2021 schedule for the aquatic centre.

Across the province, people can book appointments at barbershops, hair salons and other personal wellness services starting today and restaurants can resume patio service.

The capacity at retail shops rises to 15 per cent maximum customer capacity.

Outdoor public gatherings can now have 10 people instead of five, and indoor social gatherings remain banned.

Alberta could move into Stage 2 of the reopening plan as early as June 10. subject to 60 per cent of eligible Albertans having at least one dose of vaccine and hospitalizations being below 500 and trending downwards.

At that point, entertainment venues like movie theatres and casinos will be able to reopen their doors.
