COVID-19 update: Positivity rate drops to 6.7 per cent, city reports one additional death

MEDICINE HAT, AB- There are 621 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed across the province Saturday. Over the last 24 hours, 9,500 tests have been completed. The provincial positivity rate is 6.7 per cent, down from 7.2 per cent yesterday.

Across Alberta, there are 15,502 cases province-wide. The province said 47.3 per cent of individuals have received at least one dose of the vaccine. A total of 2,460,854 doses of the vaccine have been administered to date.

Province-wide there are 617 in hospital including 164 in ICU.

In Medicine Hat, there are 139 active cases of COVID-19. The province recorded one new death today, bringing the total number of deaths in the city to 20. A total of 1025 people have recovered from the virus.

Alberta Health said 50 .8 per cent of the city’s population has received at least one dose of the vaccine. That’s above the provincial average of 47.3 per cent.

In Cypress County, there are 34 active cases of COVID-19, and 241 recoveries. According to Alberta Health 41. 2 per cent of the region has received at least one dose of the vaccine.

In the City of Brooks, there are 47 active cases of COVID-19 . A total of 1413 people have recovered. The city has 15 recorded deaths.

In the county of Newell, there are 28 active cases of COVID-19 , 189 recoveries, and two recorded deaths.

Alberta Health said 38 per cent of the population in the County of Newell and the city of Brooks have received at least one dose.

The Municipal District of Taber has 28 active cases, 530 recoveries, and six recorded deaths. 29.2 per cent of the region has received at least one dose.

The County of Forty Mile has two active cases 150 recoveries and three recorded deaths. In terms of vaccination, 23.9 per cent of residents have received a minimum of one dose.

Lethbridge County has 105 active cases, 1093 recoveries and 12 recorded deaths .

37.6 per cent of the region has been vaccinated.

The city of Lethbridge has 236 active cases, 4,455 recoveries, and 37 recorded deaths.

In North Lethbridge is 54.6 per cent of residents have received at least one dose of the vaccine. South Lethbridge has a vaccination rate of 59.1 per cent and West Lethbridge is at 57.9 per cent.
