Students and teachers celebrate Catholic Education Week

May 10, 2021 | 5:05 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The Medicine Hat Catholic Board of Education will spend this week celebrating their faith-based education.

Throughout the week, students will participate in a variety of activities while celebrating the five essential marks of a Catholic school.

Even though students went back to online learning, all activities will be accessible virtually.

They will participate in activities like a scavenger hunt, writing cards for people in the community and painting stained glass windows.

Religious education coordinator, Sandra Richard says it’s important to celebrate so the kids don’t feel alone.

“It’s just reaching out to the kids and letting them know that even though we’re not together in person, we can be together in our faith,” Richard said. “For us, for Catholic education, that’s a really important message to share with the kids and give them hope in a time when it sometimes doesn’t feel so hopeful.”

Catholic Education Week wraps up on Friday, with an online province-wide consecration with Bishop McGrattan.
