Redcliff Skatepark construction underway

REDCLIFF, AB – Redcliff youth will be able to enjoy a brand new skatepark this summer.

Besides the BMX track, this will be the first skatepark for the town.

Construction is now underway, and it’s slated to be done by the end of June, pending weather.

This follows months of public input, design, and planning with the sub-committee.

The skatepark has a central location, right beside the swimming pool.

Director of operations Derrin Thibault says the town put in about one-third of project funding, while the rest was grant money they received last year.

“The project was $435,000 that’s just the actual skatepark portion. There’s still lighting and landscaping, benches and things like that to get looked after. So that $435,000 is just for the actual skatepark portion.”

Meantime, the Redcliff tennis courts are also getting an upgrade.

That includes resurfacing, plus the addition of two new Pickleball courts.

Thibault says the government’s Municipal Stimulus Program (MSP) is funding this project.
