Positive case of COVID-19 at Alexandra Middle School

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Public School Division is reporting another school with a positive case of COVID-19.

Alexandra Middle School is the third school in the division in the past 24 hours to report a positive case.

The school has been placed on AHS Alert status, reads a statement posted by the division.

Close contacts of the positive case have been identified and a number of students and staff have been directed to quarantine for a specified time period.

The school will remain open.

The statement says that based on AHS guidelines anyone not directed to quarantine can attend school safely. Siblings and family members of close contacts are not required to quarantine; however, they are asked to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.

Late Wednesday evening the division announced two more positive cases at Crescent Heights High School and one more case at River Heights Elementary School.
