DUNMORE, AB – Alberta Health Services connected three more positive cases of COVID-19 to Irvine School over the weekend.

Close contacts were identified and 68 students and 11 staff have been placed into quarantine between the two updates.

Prairie Rose Public School announced the cases on its website over the weekend.

Irvine School remains on AHS Alert status. As two or more cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed at Irvine School an investigation has been started by the medical officer of health.

On April 9, Prairie Rose revealed that one case had been connected to Irvine School, resulting in 44 students and eight staff being placed in quarantine.

In the statement posted over the weekend, Prairie Rose says those who are required to isolate will continue to be supported by the school through online and remote learning methods. Siblings and family members of close contacts are not required to self-isolate, however they are asked to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19.

“Irvine School remains open to in-person learning and we are working closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect students and staff. We continue to focus on preventing the spread of COVID-19 and have directed our custodian team to conduct enhanced cleaning protocols of the school. This additional cleaning will focus on areas where the individual was present along with our continuous attention to high touch areas and surfaces throughout the facility.”
