COVID-19 update: Province confirms 1,486 new cases

EDMONTON, AB- There are 1,486 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed across the province Saturday including 977 variants of concern.

The province also confirmed three additional deaths.

A total of 16, 353 tests have been completed over the past 24 hours. The positivity rate is 9.2 per cent.

In total, there are 17, 307 active cases across Alberta, with 445 people in hospital including 94 in intensive care.

In Medicine Hat, active cases have topped 100. There are currently 103 active cases in the city, 589 recoveries, and 17 reported deaths.

Cypress County has 27 active cases, and 159 recoveries.

Newell County has 11 active cases, 161 recoveries, and two recorded deaths.

The County of Forty Mile has four active cases, 127 recoveries, and three recorded deaths.

The MD of Taber has 34 active cases, 411 recoveries, and six recorded deaths.

Lethbridge County has 118 active cases, 714 recoveries, and nine recorded deaths.

The City of Lethbridge has 478 active cases, 3,286 recoveries, and 32 recorded deaths.

On Twitter, the province’s chief medical officer of health, encouraged everyone to enjoy the nice weekend weather but reminded them to stay safe.
