Local outdoors store sees increasing demand for fishing licenses

MEDICINE HAT, AB – As the weather starts to warm up, many Hatters are embracing outdoor activities.

Hunting and fishing supplies have had a steady demand throughout the pandemic.

With limited indoor activities available, many people have looked to alternatives.

The owner of The Outdoorsmen, Jason Black says his business has always been deemed essential. He was fortunate to never have to close.

Black says he has seen a lot of new customers come through the store. However, the most popular thing people are coming in for is fishing licenses.

“More people wanted to try fishing, take their families out, experiment with the various waters we got around here,” Black said.

Black says getting a fishing license is easy. All you need is an Alberta government ID and his store can get a license in minutes.
