Bumblebee Box Workshop coming to Police Point Park

Apr 12, 2021 | 12:27 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The spring buzzing of bees can be heard around Medicine Hat and that has the MH Interpretive Program buzzing as well.

A Bumblebee Box Workshop will take place at the Police Point Park Nature Centre on April 24. The interpretive program encourages committed nature lovers to make a bee box and become part of a Citizen Science Bumblebee Monitoring Program through the Alberta Native Bee Council.

A bumblebee box will get residents involved in an easy, low-maintenance monitoring project. For a subsidized fee, you can get the supplies and instructions needed.

All you need to do after that is assemble and place the box then check it mid-summer for bee inhabitants and in mid-autumn after they’ve left.

Call the Nature Centre at 403-529-6225 to book a 60-minute spot on April 24.

For more information call the Nature Centre, visit natureline.info or find Police Point Park on social media.
