COVID-19 update: Province confirms 1,293 new cases Saturday

EDMONTON, AB- There are 1,293 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed province-wide Saturday including an additional 876 variant of concern cases.

According to Alberta Health 47. 7 per cent of the province’s active case count are variants of concern.

The South Zone currently has 534 variants of concern. A total of 533 cases are of the UK variant, and the South Zone currently has one confirmed case of the P1 Brazilian Variant.

Overall, the province has a 9.1 positivity rate.

349 people are in hospital, including 84 in ICU. Five new deaths were also confirmed in Saturday’s update.

In Medicine Hat, there are 81 active cases, 558 recoveries, and 17 attributed deaths.

Cypress County has 26 active cases and 147 recoveries.

The County of Forty Mile has eight active cases 1222 recoveries and three recorded deaths.

The County of Newell has five active cases, 160 recoveries, and two deaths.

The City of Brooks has four active cases, 1353 recoveries, and fourteen recorded deaths.

The Municipal District of Taber has 50 active cases, 378 recoveries, and six deaths.

Lethbridge County has 120 active cases, 651 recoveries, and eight deaths.

The City of Lethbridge has 513 active cases, 3026 recoveries, and 30 recorded deaths.
