Fire restriction in Cypress County

Mar 15, 2021 | 10:24 AM

DUNMORE, AB – Cypress County has enacted a fire restriction as of 9:30 a.m. Monday.

The restriction extends to fireworks and cancels all fire permits.

The county can enact full or restricted bans on open fires in the county as conditions require.

Fire behaviour can be extreme due to warm, dry, and windy conditions along with cured vegetation, says the county in a release.

A person who willfully sets an open fire, or any fire not allowed under this order, may be charged under the Forest and Prairie Protection Act and Cypress County Bylaw 2020/05. The person could also be forced to cover the costs of any response necessary from the county.

For more information call the Cypress County office at 403-526-2888 or visit cypress.ab.ca.
