Ahead of construction season

City launches interactive major projects map

Mar 9, 2021 | 11:33 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Residents will be able to keep track of construction projects in the city this year including expected start and end dates of projects.

The City of Medicine Hat has launched a Geographic Information Systems ahead of the 2021 construction season.

“This map includes major projects highlighted by each of our departments, from Municipal Works to Invest Medicine Hat,” said Colleen Graham, director of marketing and communications, in a release. “We’re hoping residents and businesses will find this tool useful to stay up to date on projects and related disruptions throughout the busy construction season.”

At launch today, the map has nearly 50 projects from Parks and Recreation, Environmental Utilities, Alberta Transportation and other entities. Clicking on the project will bring up a window with more information such as a detailed description and the cost.

“We designed this map with residents in mind,” said Nigel Forster, geospatial services superintendent. “The overview provides a snapshot of all of the projects departments have planned for the year, while the tabs across the top let users identify projects specific to those departments.”

The map will be updated as projects progress and new projects come up.
