MEDICINE HAT, AB – The winner of the Covenant Foundation’s High Tea 50/50 Cash Raffle will be able to win up to $5,000 while supporting a local initiative.

The annual fundraiser is an online raffle this year, usually, they host a high tea.

Proceeds will stay in Medicine Hat to support the areas of greatest need at Covenant Health’s St. Joseph’s Home and Carmel Hospice.

Site administrator Ryan Wiest says St. Joseph’s is the only hospice program in the east corner of Alberta.

They provide end-of-life care to patients in the community and area.

“Plus we have special auxiliary beds so if people don’t need acute care and they’re just waiting to go home, they would stay with us until they can do that. And then we have respite care so people can come here and if their loved ones need a break they bring their loved one here and we take care of them and our in-home palliative bed program,” Wiest told Chat News.

The in-home palliative bed program has 10 beds within the community for those who want to stay at home as long as they can with proper equipment.

Tickets for the raffle are on sale until March 19 with the draw date on March 26.
