Southview Grand residents issue Mustard Seed fundraising challenge

MEDICINE HAT, AB – It all started as a list of urgently needed items, but step into the Southview Grand condominiums and you will quickly see that it has blossomed into much more than that.

Containers have been put on every floor, and the contributions to The Mustard Seed have been overflowing.

“The donations were amazing. We had to take some of them out because the boxes were overflowing,” said Southview Grand Condo resident Janet Prihar.

The initiative was spearheaded by members of the condo’s social committee.

“ We are fortunate in this condo. We have I think everything we need, and we aren’t able to travel this year, so some of us have a little extra. So why not help those who need it when we can?” Prihar said.

The committee estimates they have raised $500 in cheques and food donations.

They are now challenging other 55 plus communities in the city to match their donations.

Grandview, Norwood Grand, Chinook Village, The Wellington, Meadowlands, Park Meadows, Fairway Village, and the Medicine Hat Retirement Villas, are among the communities included in the challenge.
