399 new cases in province

Active COVID-19 cases in Medicine Hat back below 20

There are 19 active cases of COVID-19 in Medicine Hat on Thursday.

The city now has had 552 total cases – the 19 active, 517 recovered and there have been 16 deaths.

There are no new cases in the city today and two new recoveries.

Across the province, there are 4,484 active cases, down 61 from Wednesday, and 126,074 recovered cases, up 462.

Alberta’s total number of COVID-19 cases from the start of the pandemic is 132,432.

There have been 348 variant cases identified in the province, 32 new today.

There are 399 total new cases in the province today.

There are now 280 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 56 of which are in ICU, and 1,874 deaths.

The province completed 9,217 tests in the past 24 hours.

The provincial positivity rate is 4.3 per cent.

Alberta has delivered 195,572 doses of vaccine.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw said Wednesday on Twitter that her next in-person update will be on Monday.

An outbreak was listed on the provincial website last week at the Valleyview long-term care facility in Medicine Hat. Alberta Health has confirmed there are five active cases there and the outbreak was opened on Feb. 12. A previously listed local outbreak at Meadowlands is still on the alberta.ca reporting page.

There are 6,425 cases in the South Zone. There are 319 active cases and 6,017 recovered. The death total in the zone is at 89.

An AHS spokesperson told CHAT News on Thursday that AHS South Zone currently has 28 COVID-19 positive patients in hospital in the South Zone. There are 21 patients at Chinook Regional Hospital, with 12 in the ICU. There are three patients at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, with one in the ICU. There are also three patients at the Cardston Health Centre and one at the Pincher Creek Health Centre.

There are no local schools on either “Alert” or “Outbreak” status on the provincial reporting site.

The website Support Our Students is tracking instances of cases in schools across the province.

Cypress County has totaled 145 cases – two active cases and the rest recovered.

The County of Forty Mile has 117 total cases. There are no active cases, 115 recovered and there have been two deaths.

The MD of Taber has 337 total cases — five active cases, 326 recovered and there have been six deaths.

Special Areas No. 2 has 40 total cases – one active, 38 recovered and there has been one death.

Brooks has 1,362 total cases — no active cases and 1,348 are recovered. Brooks has recorded 14 deaths.

The County of Newell has a total of 159 cases — one active case, 156 recovered and there have been two deaths.

The County of Warner has 162 total cases. There are three active cases, 156 are recovered cases and there have been three deaths in the county.

The City of Lethbridge has a total of 2,057 cases. There are 189 active cases, 1,848 recovered and there have been 20 deaths. Lethbridge County has 541 cases, 19 active cases, 515 recovered and there have been seven deaths.

The figures on alberta.ca are “up-to-date as of end of day Feb. 24, 2021.”

Saskatchewan has a total of 28,191 cases, 1,493 considered active. There are 26,318 recovered cases and there have been 380 COVID-19 deaths in the province.

Saskatchewan has delivered 63,436 doses of vaccine.
