Crescent Heights High School placed “On Alert” following second positive case of COVID-19

Feb 11, 2021 | 9:01 AM

A MEDICINE HAT, AB –The Medicine Hat Public School Board says Crescent Heights High School has been placed “On Alert” after a second case of COVID-19 was identified this afternoon.

In a release, the Medicine Hat Public School Division says AHS has directed some students and staff to quarantine for a specified time period. All close contacts of the positive case have been identified and are already in quarantine.

“We know that it may be difficult to hear of a rising number of cases in our community. To this point, each positive case that has been identified in an MHPSD school, including all cases at CHHS have been contracted outside of the school. We will continue to inform families each time there is a positive case of COVID-19 at our school.”

It’s the first case at a city school since students and teachers resumed in-person classes following the Christmas break.

The release reminds parents/guardians of students, as well as any staff/visitors/volunteers to Crescent Heights High School to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 and to complete the Alberta Daily Health Check each day prior to attending school.

As well, the school division says if your child has any symptoms of COVID-19 listed on the Alberta Health Daily Checklist, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811 and keep them home.
