Police encourage residents to download mobile app

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Police are encouraging residents to download their mobile app and have had tremendous success thus far says Insp. Brent Secondiak.

Police have been working on the app for three years but rolled it out just over a year ago.

Secondiak says a new addition to the mobile app is a centralized location for Covid related information with links to the city, government, and AHS websites.

That information will be updated as health orders change from the chief medical officer of health. Frequently asked questions are also included.

The app focuses on traffic notifications, road closures, media releases, and online reporting to submit a tip or certain offenses.

“Lots of positive feedback about push notifications. We have those out as timely as we can when there’s a road closure, collision, or high-risk incident that the public needs to stay away from so it has tremendous value in that part of it,” Secondiak said.

Police will be adding more features in the next few months as well.

The MHPS app is available for both Android and Apple devices and is free to download.
