Property, truck stolen from Redcliff and Medicine Hat recovered in Taber

TABER, AB – Police in Taber on Monday recovered a truck stolen from Redcliff as well as several thousand dollars in property stolen from Medicine Hat and Redcliff.

According to the Taber Police Service, at around 11:40 p.m. on Dec. 21 they attempted to stop a truck that had been reported stolen from Redcliff earlier in the day.

β€œThe truck fled at a high rate of speed, vaulting into a ditch, becoming disabled. The two occupants fled on foot; however, the female passenger was immediately apprehended. After a short search, the male driver was also arrested,” say police.

The stolen property was found during a subsequent search of the truck.

The driver, Shane Poole, 31, from Medicine Hat, faces charges of flight from police, four counts of possession of stolen property and possession of methamphetamine, among others. He also faces charges under the Traffic Safety Act and the Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Act. He was remanded into custody and his next court appearance is set for Jan. 5.

The female passenger, 25 and also from Medicine Hat was charged with possession of stolen property and will appear in Taber court on Jan.19. Her name was not released.
