The Saskatchewan Roughriders have released Canadian defensive lineman Zack Evans.

The Regina native and two-time Grey Cup champion has played in eight CFL seasons with the Roughriders and Ottawa Redblacks.

Evans signed with the Roughriders in 2012 as a territorial junior after playing with the Regina Thunder junior football club.

He played 16 games over his first two seasons and helped the Roughriders win the 2013 Grey Cup.

Evans was selected by the Redblacks in the 2013 expansion draft and played 70 games over four seasons in Ottawa, earning his second Grey Cup ring in 2016.

He returned to the Roughriders on a one-year deal in February 2018 and signed a four-year extension after the season.

Evans has 101 tackles, 24 sacks, an interception and two touchdowns in 115 regular-season CFL games.
