United Way accepting donations as they wrap up 2020 campaign

Dec 17, 2020 | 11:39 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – All the money raised through the United Way stays right here in southeastern Alberta.

And right now, Executive Director Missy Fandrick says donations are down.

If you’d like to help, monetary donations continue to be accepted and Fandrick says Medicine Hat has been generous in 2020.

The United Way gave out close to half a million dollars to local charities through the federal government’s relief fund.

“I imagine the harder days are coming. And what our non-profit situation and all of our other charities what that’s going to look like I really don’t know what that is going to be, until we hit January and people start doing their books and settle everything out. We will be here like we have been for 60 years to help as much as we can,” she said.

Fandrick says Southland Volkswagen’s toy drive has been going extremely well. That campaign wraps up on Monday the 21.

The United Way will still have their grant process in the spring and will donate money to other non-profits in Medicine Hat and area.
