MEDICINE HAT, AB – The streets of Medicine Hat will be lit Thursday night with a Christmas convoy to spread holiday cheer across the city.

The Rotary Ignite Club organized the drive-by for seniors and the community.

The route includes passing by the senior lodges and hospital.

This is the second Christmas parade for the club. The first was held on December 10.

Vehicles will be decorated in lights, and the fire department will be there.

Rotary Ignite member Karen Blewett says there will also be a personal touch to go along with the parade.

Over 1,400 handmade cards and notes will be given to seniors in our city.

“As part of this convoy is to spread Christmas cheer by giving each individual senior a card. And so we’re so excited to have 12 different schools from across Medicine Hat and Redcliff, a dance studio, as well as other friends of Rotary and families putting cards together. We actually have over 1,400 cards and we’re very excited about that,” Blewett said.

Card delivery has been arranged with the senior homes.

The parade leaves tomorrow night (Dec. 17) just after 6 pm from the college when the fire truck arrives.

Residents are invited to decorate their vehicles and join in the parade.

The route can be found by visiting Rotary Ignite’s Facebook page.
