Three active cases

COVID-19 outbreak at South Country Village

Nov 24, 2020 | 2:21 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – A COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at a continuing care facility in Medicine Hat.

An Alberta Health Services spokesperson says there are three cases at South Country Village. The outbreak was declared on Nov. 18 and all of the cases are active.

Outbreak control measures are put in place at continuing care centres when a single case is confirmed.

Outbreaks in acute care and continuing care facilities are reported publicly when there are two or more cases, indicating that a transmission within the facility has occurred.

Outbreaks are declared over when four weeks have passed with no new cases, so not all outbreaks listed below have current transmission happening.

South Country Village previously had a case of COVID-19 in late June, and a resident there was the first COVID-19 death in Medicine Hat in July.
