Lethbridge-Medicine Hat’s unemployment rate up slightly in October

LETHBRIDGE, AB – The latest unemployment numbers have been released.

In October, the jobless rate for the Lethbridge-Medicine Hat economic region was 8.7 per cent. That’s up ever-so-slightly from 8.6 percent in September. Once again, though, the region saw the lowest unemployment rate of all economic zones in Alberta.

The province-wide jobless rate was 10.7 per cent in October. That’s a slight improvement from 11.7 per cent in September.

Below is a breakdown of the October unemployment rate for each region in Alberta, with September’s rate in parenthesis:

Camrose-Drumheller: 12.6 per cent (12.4)
Edmonton: 11.6 per cent (13.0)
Calgary: 11.3 per cent (12.5)
Red Deer: 11.1 per cent (12.1)
Banff-Jasper-Rocky Mountain House and Athabasca-Grande Prairie-Peace River: 10.8 per cent (11.2)
Wood Buffalo-Cold Lake: 9.9 per cent (11.4)
Lethbridge-Medicine Hat: 8.7 per cent (8.6)
