DUNMORE, AB – An individual who was ill and who may have attended a number of house parties over the weekend has tested positive for COVID-19, according to Prairie Rose School Division.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday afternoon, the rural school board says there are concerns that teens from many different schools attended these parties.

In a letter circulated by Alberta Health Services to 25 school boards across the southern portion of the province, AHS says it has been informed about a number of upcoming social gatherings involving large gatherings of students.

“This, in addition to the recent parties that have taken place, can and has led to the spread of COVID-19,” read the statement released Tuesday afternoon.

AHS says it can’t confirm this incident is related to events over the weekend in the Medicine Hat area.
