Veiner Centre to reopen Nov. 9

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat’s Veiner Centre will reopen its doors on Nov. 9.

Hours and activities will be limited to start, says the city.

It will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday to Friday. Fitness Classes will start on Nov. 16. In-person registration will be available from Nov. 9-13.

The Bistro will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for beverages. Lunch will not be available at this time.

“We are thrilled to have the Veiner Centre open again, and cannot wait to see our members back doing the activities they enjoy,” says Shona Dickie, superintendent of Community Support Services. “We are making every effort to provide activities to best serve our members in a manner that complies with Alberta guidelines, while providing opportunities for people to stay connected and active in our community.”

Veiner Centre staff will resume providing activities to assist older adults maintain their physical, mental, emotional and social health. Activities for November will include book club, quilting/sewing/crafts, snooker/pool, shuffleboard, table tennis, water colour studio, and fitness classes.

The November class schedule and fees will be available on the City website, as well as on social media. Memberships will be free for the months of November and December.

The city says a number of health and safety measures have been implemented to align with recommendations set by the Government of Alberta, and will reopen in stages. The first stage includes a limited opening and all person entering the building will be asked to complete a self-assessment checklist. In addition, non-medical masks will be available for patrons, as well as hand sanitizer.
