Deadline for objections is Dec. 29

Assessment and tax notices mailed to Hatters

The 2020 Supplementary Assessment Roll for the City of Medicine Hat has been prepared and the Assessment and Tax Notices have been mailed out to residents.

“The supplementary assessment looks at the increase in value of a property, linked to new building construction, an addition or renovation which has been completed and/or occupied during the current tax year,” said Sue Sterkenburg, city assessor with the City of Medicine Hat.

Sterkenburg adds the deadline to object to the entry or omission of your name is Dec. 29 and those residents must complete and submit the Assessment Review Board Complaint form with the applicable complaint registration fee.

The city urges property owners to contact the Assessment Department to resolve any concerns and avoid a formal complaint to the Assessment Review Board before filing a complaint.

The Supplementary Assessment Roll is open for inspection in the Assessment Department at City Hall, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and by phone at 403-529-8114.
