A pair of Medicine Hat Tigers could be on opposing sides of one of the NHL’s most heated rivalries of the past 15 years.

Medicine Hat Tigers’ forward Lukas Svejkovsky was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins and netminder Garin Bjorklund was picked by the Washington Capitals.

Svejkovsky was chosen in the fourth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft with the 108th overall pick. Bjorklund was drafted in the sixth round, 179th overall by the Washington Capitals.

Following a mid-season trade from the Vancouver Giants, Svejkovsky notched 13 goals and 28 points in 34 games with the Tigers.

NHL Central Scouting had the Point Roberts, Wash. native ranked 165th among North American skaters.

In his rookie season in the WHL, Bjorklund posted a 20-5-1-0 record, a 2.01 goals-against average and .897 save percentage. His 20 wins were the third-most among WHL rookies in the 2019-20 season.

Bjorklund, from Grande Prairie, Alta., was ranked sixth among North American netminders.
