Oct 5, 2020 | 10:22 AM

On Friday September 25th, local businesses banded together to encourage conversation about mental health and fundraise for local mental health initiatives.

Thanks to RBC, $1 from every coffee sold at participating local coffee shops and $10 from every oil change at Mr. Lube went towards local mental health.

RBC generously donated $2244 of the $4000 raised.

These funds will go towards the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation Mental Health Initiatives.

Jake Knodel, the owner of Station Coffee Co. jumped at the opportunity to participate,”We’re here to be a positive influence in the community and this (mental health issues) is something I think we’ve been seeing over the last few months. We’ve seen a big gap in society. So we want to do whatever we can to be a part of the solution.”

Heather Bach, Executive Director for the Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation, is grateful to the organizers who made it all possible “It was such an incredible day. What an inspiration Jessica Boyde and her team at RBC are. She put her heart and soul into organizing this event. The real success is that we all came together as a community to support our local businesses and talk about mental health.”

The Medicine Hat & District Health Foundation is the official fundraising arm of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and Alberta Health Services for Southeastern Alberta.

The Health Foundation is a 100% local, registered, non-profit charitable organization that is dedicated to making a difference in healthcare. To learn more visit their website www.ourhealthfoundation.ca
