Where’s the beef? Mounties looking for truck full of stolen meat

Sep 14, 2020 | 3:58 PM

BROOKS, AB – A truckload of stolen beef from the JBS plant in Brooks has Mounties asking for the public’s assistance for leads in tracking down the ill-gotten meat products.

Mounties are also investigating connections between this incident and one which occurred on Sept. 2 in Thorsby and possibly others in the country.

Brooks RCMP are reporting the theft took place on Aug. 30 when it was determined a truck picking up a load of $230,000 worth of beef products was operating under fraudulent documents.

The truck operating under the false name, “Transport Pascal Charland,” based out of Chateauguay, QC was sub-contracted to deliver its load to the US but failed to make its destination.

The transport truck used is described as burgundy-coloured with a large cab bunk pulling a white refrigerated trailer. The suspect was described as a white male with short brown balding hair, tall with a heavy build and wearing blue jeans, black t-shirt, flourescent vest and mask.

The suspect in the Brooks theft also matches that of a theft of a truckload of Arctic Spa hot tubs in Thorsby.

In that incident, seven hot tubs were taken from a manufacturing site on Sept. 2 at 9 a.m.

The truck used in that incident was a white Volvo with a flat-deck trailer.

According to RCMP, they are looking at possible other incidents across the country connected to these incidents.
