Aug 18, 2020 | 10:06 AM

An outbreak of COVID-19 in northern B.C. has been linked to a religious gathering in Deadwood, Alta.

Northern Health in B.C. has issued an alert advising that 12 people who attended the “It Is Time Canada” gathering from July 30 to Aug. 2 have tested positive for COVID-19.

The host has confirmed he tested positive as well.

Five others developed the novel coronavirus through secondary exposure.

Alberta Health Services is investigating and says anyone who was at the event should book a COVID test online and monitor for symptoms.

The organization’s website says COVID-19 protocols were in place, including a cap on participants and social-distancing guidelines.
