
One new COVID-19 case in Medicine Hat, four total active cases
Medicine Hat has four active cases of COVID-19, with one new case reported in Monday’s online update. The city has 68 total cases – four active, 62 recovered and there have been two deaths.
Alberta announced 359 new cases on Monday, its first update since last week. The province counted 177 new cases on Aug. 14, 86 on Aug. 15 and 96 on Aug. 16 and now has a total of 12,412 cases. Of those, 11,056 are recovered, an increase of 260 since Friday, and 1,132 are active, an increase of 96 from Friday.
A note added to the online chart clarifies that the “number of cases reported on August 14 includes 74 cases from before August 14 that were reconciled in the database on this day. These 74 cases are not attributed to new cases on this date. On August 14 there were 103 new cases.”
There are 45 Albertans currently in hospital due to COVID-19, 10 of which are in ICU. There have been a total of 224 deaths, up three from Friday’s update.
