MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Police Service is providing information to the public about a recent sexual assault investigation in the city.
A media release was posted Wednesday in response to social media posts that drew attention to the July investigation by the Southern Alberta Integrated Child Exploitation (ICE) Team.
MHPS says one person was charged and a media release was not issued for two primary reasons.
“Firstly, the courts had imposed a publication ban, and secondly, the privacy and identity of both the young victim and witnesses was considered,” reads the release. “Further, due to the evidence and nature of the file the event did not pose a risk to the general public.”
