We’ve all heard of Taber corn, but right here in our own backyard, Redcliff corn is here for the taking, and if you ask Huber Vegetables, it’s just as worthy of acclaim.

“Redcliff corn is the freshest, most local corn you can find. We are just right outside Medicine Hat. It’s picked daily. It doesn’t sit outside in the back of a hot truck, and we grow many different varieties of corn and we have been doing it for a lot of years, and I think it is the best corn you can find in Medicine Hat” Erin Huber, of Huber Vegetables said.

The growing season for corn this year has been going strong, according to Huber, but the corn grew a little later than usual thanks to a cooler than normal spring.

“This spring was a little cool and so corn needs a lot of heat to grow and so with the cool spring and lots of rain that was a good thing but it also made the corn a little bit slow. So we are a little bit later this year, but there’s always something every year,” Huber said.

Huber Vegetables grows many varieties of corn including, Super Sweet and Peaches and Cream.

Like many businesses impacted by COVID-19, Huber Vegetables is hoping more people will do their part and support their local farmers.

Local corn from Huber Vegetables is available at the Medicine Hat Farmers’ Market.
