Welcome to August, welcome to more road work

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Add a few more locations to the list of road work in Medicine Hat.

Beginning on Tuesday, milling operations will be commencing at the following locations across the city:

• Gershaw Drive from Fourth Street SW to south of Seventh Street SW
• Seventh Street SW from Fourth Avenue to Gershaw Drive
• Sixth Avenue SW from Prospect Drive to Fifth Street
• Sixth Street SE from Fourth Avenue SE (east) to Fourth Avenue SE (west)
• 20 Street NE from 16 Street to 11 Avenue

Milling operations involves the removal of the top 50 mm of asphalt to accommodate the placement of a new asphalt surface. Asphalt surfacing will follow the milling operations and will start the week of Aug. 10.

Also on Tuesday, road construction work along Stevenson Street SE between South Ridge Drive and Strong Avenue will begin. Stevenson Street will be closed to motorists during the work.

The project is expected to be complete by early September.

The schedules for all work are weather dependent.

This project is part of the City’s ongoing replacement program, working to address aging infrastructure systems, including underground storm water infrastructure, concrete replacement and road reconstruction.

Motorists are reminded to obey all posted signs and detours, and watch for further updates as the project progress.
