MEDICINE HAT, AB – The revitalization of downtown is taking another small step forward this week.

In the alley behind the Medicine Hat Villa, on the 500 block of Fourth Street, six local artists are giving a large wall a facelift, covering old and unsightly graffiti and inappropriate material with new art.

A large butterfly and flowers, forests and a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed piece are already on the alley wall and work is continuing.

The Medicine Hat Villa’s Ray Tone says things are picking up downtown with new businesses opening and more people spending time in the core.

The Villa is just trying to do its part, he says.

“They’re quite curious about it. They come out different times of the day and walk around, have a look and talk to artists, see how it’s going and yeah, they’re quite excited actually as we all are,” s

ys Tone.

You can watch more art being added to the downtown area over the long weekend as the Southern Alberta Pop up Parks Association will add new art to the pedestrian underpass that links North Railway Street to downtown
