Jul 22, 2020 | 4:15 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – It should come as no surprise that Medicine Hat is under a heat warning this afternoon.

Temperatures as high as 33 C and overnight lows near 18 C will continue into Thursday for the Medicine Hat-Bow Island-Suffield region, says Environment Canada.

The rest of southeastern Alberta and southwestern Saskatchewan are under a heat warning.

Temperatures are expected to cool off by this weekend.

Environment Canada advises people to be on the watch for symptoms of heatstroke or heat exhaustion, such as high body temperature, lack of sweat, confusion, fainting and unconsciousness.

Particular attention should be paid to individuals that can experience earlier or more severe effects from heat including infants, children, seniors, and individuals with pre-existing lung, heart, kidney, nervous system, mental health or diabetic conditions, outdoor workers, as well as those who are socially isolated.
