Severe thunderstorm watch issued for region

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Southeastern Alberta is under a severe thunderstorm watch.

The watch covers Environment Canada’s Medicine Hat-Bow Island-Suffield, Cypress Hills Provincial Park-Foremost and Lethbridge-Taber-Milk River areas. It was issued just after 9:36 a.m. on Tuesday.

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for severe thunderstorms that could produce strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

Scattered thunderstorms will occur today over parts of southern Alberta and some may become severe.
