Quick arrest following morning robbery

MEDICINE HAT, AB – One man is in custody following what police believe was a targeted robbery this morning.

Medicine Hat police were called just after 8 a.m. to a male in distress in the zero hundred block of Third Street SE. The male, 46, told police he was threatened with a firearm, punched in the face and robbed of a large amount of cash.

Police surrounded the area and found the suspect, 25, hiding in a nearby apartment.

The male is in custody awaiting a bail hearing. He is charged with robbery, obstruction of justice, being unlawfully in a dwelling and breach of release conditions.

Police remind residents to report suspicious activity by calling 911 for all emergencies or 403-529-8481 for non- emergencies. Members of the community can also submit tips through the MHPS mobile app, which is free to download and available for both Apple and Android devices.
