Stampede’s home decorating challenge

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The spirit of the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede will still be here this month.

And it’s all with the home decorating challenge that the stampede promotions committee is putting on.

Chair Darlene Keeler says it’s to make sure residents can still remember the stampede and its activities.

Families and residents are encouraged to decorate their front yard.

The theme for the challenge is “Celebrating Local Achievement.”

It will take place Monday, July 20 with judging from 11 AM-2 PM.

Keeler says criteria includes decorations, originality, and family participation.

“It’s just a family fun event. And we’re going to have a surprise along the route and stuff like that. We will have judges, our royalty Rayelle (Smith) and Dionne (Freimark) and we will have some of our youth committees as judges and taking photos and then I have some judges who did store decorating helping out.”

The route will be posted online for residents to take a tour later this month.

A $400 Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede gift card is the first prize.

Second place is $200 and first place is $100 gift cards.

Keeler encourages winners to buy tickets for next year’s stampede evening shows.

The deadline to register for the home decorating challenge is Thursday, July 16 by visiting their website.

She adds there is no store decorating at all this year.
