July utility rates released by city

MEDICINE HAT, AB – The price of natural gas for Medicine Hat utility customers has dropped by more than 50 per cent, while the price of electricity has risen slightly for July.

The month’s utility rates were released by the City of Medicine Hat on Thursday.

Natural gas will cost residents $1.242 per gigajoule for July. That’s down from $3.152 per gigajoule in June.

The July electricity rate is set at 6.577 cents per kilowatt hour, up from 5.576 cents in June.

Both rates are determined based on the average set by other providers.

The natural gas price is in the middle of the $0.953 at AltaGas and $1.530 set by Direct Energy.

The high power price in the province for July is 6.841 cents, set by Epcor (Edmonton). The low price is 6.163 cents set by Enmax.
