South Country Village confirms COVID-19 case

MEDICINE HAT, AB- A long-term care resident at South Country Village has tested positive for COVID-19.

Trish Deringer, client service manager with South Country Village confirmed to CHAT News Today that a resident has tested positive for COVID-19.

“As a result of asymptomatic swabbing, we have identified one long term care resident who has tested positive with COVID-19. We are collaborating with AHS and Public Health throughout the outbreak,” Deringer said.

Letters have been distributed to inform the family members of residents at South Country Village about the positive COVID-19 case.

Staff and residents at the facility have also been informed.

“We are following the Chief Medical Officer of Health Order 23-2020 and all outbreak measures have been put in place, ” Deringer said.

According to the province’s most recent geospatial update (June 25) , there are two active cases of COVID-19 in Medicine Hat.
