18 Alberta men charged with online child exploitation

EDMONTON — The Internet Child Exploitation unit of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team has arrested 18 suspects from across Alberta for offences related to online child sexual exploitation.

The sweep began May 20 and ended on Tuesday.

Each of the suspects was charged with at least one child pornography offence.

They range in age from 18 to 74 and they include two men from Lethbridge.

In a release, ICE speculates that the rise in the number of investigative referrals is likely in part related to digital dependency during COVID-19 isolation measures.
